Dr Anna Spathis

Assistant Professor (Honorary Consultant) in Palliative and End of Life Care

Anna Spathis [MA MB BChir MD FRCP MRCGP FHEA] read medicine at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and subsequently trained in both hospital medicine and general practice before specializing in palliative care. She has worked as a palliative medicine consultant at the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2011 and, in 2019, was appointed as a University Lecturer (Honorary Consultant) in Palliative and End of Life Care. She is the Lead Consultant for the Cambridge Breathlessness Intervention Service.

Anna has been highly involved in the development and delivery of undergraduate palliative care education at the University of Cambridge since 2012 and, as Academic Lead for the East of England Specialty Training Committee, has been building regional postgraduate academic palliative care training. Her research focuses on brief, community-based complex interventions for the management of intractable fatigue and breathlessness in advanced disease.
