We offer funding opportunities to students in the form of Awards, Prizes, Scholarships, Studentships and Bursaries.

Undergraduate students

The Cambridge Bursary

Funding type: Bursary
Total value: up to £3,500 (or £5,600 for some mature students)
Year available: 2025  

The Cambridge Bursary Scheme provides bursaries to Home and EU undergraduates studying for a first degree of up to £3,500 (or £5,600 for some mature students) per year for students with household incomes of less than £62,215. The Bursary is in addition to the support available from the Government.

Cambridge Commonwealth, European and International Trust

Funding type: Award

Year available: 2025  

The Cambridge Trust offers some awards to overseas students who have been accepted for admission by any Cambridge college. Once you have been made an offer of a place, we will contact you with full details and an application form. Please note that you will only be eligible to apply for this funding if you apply during the October admissions round. Applicants who apply in the March admissions round will miss the deadline to apply for this funding.

The St Edmund’s College Alumni Sports Bursary

Funding type: Bursary

Year available: 2025  

Thanks to the generosity of a group of St Edmund’s College rowing alumni, the College is proud to offer a Sports Bursary. The Sports Bursary will be available to a current St Edmund’s College student or offer-holder who is a University-level sports person and is, or will be, training with or trialling for a University Sports team, can demonstrate a high level of academic achievement and is in financial need. There are also a number of smaller awards available for other elite athletes, so applications are encouraged.

Application deadline: Applications for 2024 are now closed. Applications for 2025 entry scholarships will open in the spring of 2025. The main Sports Bursary will be awarded in October 2025 upon matriculation to St Edmund’s College, but smaller sports awards may be available sooner, in certain circumstances.

How to apply: You can apply for the Sports Bursary by completing the Sports Bursary Application Form and the Student Budget Planner and returning them to the Development Team.

 

University of Cambridge Outreach Scholarships

The University offers a small number of scholarships to UK students from underrepresented backgrounds. To find out more click here. 

 

Prince Philip Scholarship for Applicants from Hong Kong

If you’re a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region applying for a first degree at Cambridge, you’re eligible to apply. The Scholarship offers cash awards and means-tested support for tuition fees and maintenance (living costs).

To apply for the Prince Philip Scholarship, you need to send your application at the same time as you submit your application to Cambridge. For further information about the Scholarships and how to apply, see the Prince Philip Scholarship website. 

 

Postgraduate students

 

The Ebenezer Ademisoye MPhil Award

Funding type: Scholarship
Total value: £5,000
Year available: 2025

This award of £5,000 is for an applicant who has an offer at St Edmund’s College to study an MPhil and who is in financial need. Preference will be given to applicants with one of the following categories of ethnicity: Black African; Black Caribbean; Black Other; Mixed – White and Black Caribbean; Mixed – White and Black African; or Other mixed background (to include Black African, Black Caribbean or Black Other).

Application deadline: 22 June 2025

How to apply: Applications should be made in writing to St Edmund’s College by sending a CV and a covering letter of no more that 1000 words outlining why you would benefit from the award, declaring how you meet the eligibility criteria and demonstrating your financial need. Applications should be made by 22 June 2025 and sent to admissions@st-edmunds.cam.ac.uk.

 

The AGM Randeree Charitable Trust (RCT) Scholarship

Funding type: Scholarship

Year available: 2025

The AGM Randeree Scholarship offers a unique opportunity for prospective students who are actively engaged in the British Muslim community to develop their leadership capabilities.  The Scholarship awarded to an outstanding individual will cover the full costs of tuition and accommodation for a year and enable them to study for a Master’s graduate degree at the University of Cambridge. The range of courses to be supported is wide and includes History, Philosophy, Education, South Asian, Asian, and Middle Eastern studies, Public Health, International Relations and Politics, and Development Studies. Where it does not form part of the Master’s programme chosen, a theological component may also be added to the course to further enrich the scholar’s studies.

The McBurney St Edmund’s College MPhil Bursary in Archaeological Science

Funding type: Bursary
Total value: £5,000
Year available: 2025

This bursary of £5,000 is for the best-qualified applicant who applies for the MPhil in Archaeology, and who wishes to specialise in Archaeological Science, with a preference for those who have an interest in Geoarchaeology. Students with any fee status (Home/EU/Overseas) are eligible to apply. Applicants must have been accepted for a place on the MPhil in Archaeology with a specialisation in Archaeological Science.

The St Edmund’s College & CJBS Social Innovation Scholarship

Funding type: Scholarship

Year available: 2025

The studentships has been made available by St Edmund’s College in partnership with Cambridge Judge Business School for applicants on the MSt in Social Innovation. St Edmund’s and CJBS welcome applications from any candidate, irrespective of nationality or geographical location. Applications are particularly welcomed from social sector practitioners (working at organisations with limited resources, such as NGOs, in particular).

How to apply: To apply for this funding, applicants will be required to submit an application to mstsocialinnovation@jbs.cam.ac.uk:

  • outlining a social innovation idea (or a change project within an organisation) which the programme can help realise
  • explaining how the candidate will be able to play a part in the life of St Edmund’s College.

Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program

The prestigious Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cambridge was established in 2022 as a collaboration between the University and the Mastercard Foundation. Over 500 Scholars from the African continent will be enrolled in the program between 2023 and 2030 to undertake a wide range of Master’s courses.

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program provides bright students from under-represented communities in Africa with a fully funded opportunity to complete their Master’s training, develop transformative leadership skills and contribute to climate resilience and sustainable futures in Africa. Ultimately, the mission of the Mastercard foundation Scholars program at the University of Cambridge is to contribute to the development of a transformative network of young people, critical to driving sustainable change.

Cambridge Opportunity Masters and Get In Cambridge Studentships

Cambridge Opportunity Studentships are for Masters students from low-income households with experience of educational disadvantage who are set at the Home rate for fees.

Get In Cambridge Studentships follow the same criteria and are reserved to address under-representation of students from Black, British Bangladeshi or British Pakistani backgrounds.

Both studentships are intended to cover University fees and living expenses when the maximum postgraduate grant / loan is taken with government student finance. For more information, please visit the Cambridge Trust website.
